Star Aesthetic Centre Durban

Aesthetic Treatments in Durban North

Doctor-led aesthetic medicine at 22 Ennisdale Drive — assessed, planned and performed under the care of Dr. Rajeev Bangalee.

Every treatment at Star Aesthetic Centre begins the same way: with an assessment, not a price list. Dr. Rajeev Bangalee (MBBCh, University of the Witwatersrand) is a registered medical practitioner — HPCSA Reg. MP 0558605 — with postgraduate training in aesthetic medicine and over twenty years of clinical experience. What that means in practice is that the consultation comes first, and the recommendation follows the anatomy rather than the request.

That distinction matters more than it sounds. A patient who asks for filler may actually need anti-wrinkle treatment; someone booking a peel for pigmentation may have melasma that peels alone will not resolve. Being assessed by a doctor means the underlying cause is identified before anything is treated — and that you will be told plainly when a treatment is not appropriate for you, or when the result you are picturing is not achievable with a non-surgical option.

The treatments below fall into three groups. Injectables are personally assessed and performed by Dr. Bangalee, with dosing and placement planned around your individual anatomy. Skin and hair treatments are assessed and planned by Dr. Bangalee, with selected treatments performed by a trained assistant under his clinic protocols. Medical services are doctor-led programmes that begin with a medical assessment rather than a treatment booking.

Which treatment do I need?

Most patients arrive describing a concern rather than a procedure. Find yours below for a starting point — the treatment finally recommended is always decided at your consultation, and is often a combination rather than a single option.

Medical Services

Doctor-led medical programmes. Each begins with a medical assessment rather than a treatment booking, and what is appropriate is decided at that assessment.

Weight Management

Medical Weight Management in Durban North

Losing weight is rarely a matter of willpower alone. Metabolism, hormones, medication and medical history all play a part — and none of them are addressed by another diet.

This is a doctor-led programme, not a diet plan. It begins with a medical assessment by Dr. Bangalee to understand what is actually driving your weight, then combines nutritional guidance, regular monitoring and — where clinically indicated and lawfully prescribed — prescription support, including GLP-1 therapies where these are appropriate for you. Suitability and results vary from patient to patient, and that is precisely why the programme is built around you rather than a template.

  • Medical assessment first

Your programme starts with a consultation and clinical assessment by Dr. Bangalee — including the medical factors that make weight difficult to shift, which a diet alone never addresses.

  • Prescription support where appropriate

Where clinically indicated and lawfully prescribed, prescription medication — including GLP-1 therapies — may form part of the plan. Whether any medication is suitable for you is a medical decision, made at your assessment.

  • Nutrition built around your life

Personalised nutritional guidance rather than a generic meal plan — built around how you actually eat, work and move.

  • Monitored the whole way

Regular review appointments track your progress and let the plan be adjusted as you go, with Dr. Bangalee overseeing throughout.

VITAMIN IV THERAPY

Intravenous Vitamin Therapy in Durban North

Five intravenous formulations, each with a stated ingredient list. Every drip is preceded by a medical assessment with Dr. Bangalee to establish whether intravenous therapy is appropriate for you, and which formulation — if any — is suitable.

Intravenous vitamin therapy is a supportive measure. It does not treat underlying medical conditions, does not replace a balanced diet, adequate sleep or prescribed medication, and is not a substitute for investigating symptoms that persist. How much benefit any individual notices varies, and some patients notice none.

ASSESSED BEFORE EVERY INFUSION

The Recovery Drip

A full vitamin complex with an additional dose of vitamin B12 and a litre of intravenous fluid, used to replace fluid and nutrients in patients assessed as dehydrated or depleted. It does not prevent or treat the effects of alcohol, and how much difference it makes varies from person to person.

Common questions

Do I need a consultation before I can book a treatment?+

Yes. Every new patient is assessed before any treatment is performed. The consultation covers your medical history, your concern, what is realistically achievable and what it will cost — and it is where Dr. Bangalee will tell you if a treatment is not appropriate for you. A free 15-minute consultation is available if you would like to discuss options before committing.

Who actually performs the treatments?+

Injectable treatments are personally assessed and performed by Dr. Bangalee. Skin and hair treatments are assessed and planned by Dr. Bangalee, with selected treatments performed by a trained assistant working under his clinic protocols. Medical services are doctor-led programmes that begin with a medical assessment rather than a treatment booking.

How much do aesthetic treatments cost in Durban North?+

Prices vary by treatment, by how many areas are being treated and by the products required. Each treatment page shows a starting price, and several show a full price breakdown. Some treatments are quoted only at consultation, because the cost depends entirely on what your assessment shows. You will always be given a clear plan and price before anything is performed.

Are aesthetic treatments covered by medical aid?+

Purely cosmetic treatments are generally not covered by South African medical aids. Some medically indicated conditions — such as hyperhidrosis — may be claimable depending on your plan and your scheme's rules. Check directly with your medical aid before your appointment, as we cannot confirm cover on your behalf.

How do I know which treatment is right for me?+

Start from the concern rather than the procedure — the table above gives a starting point. In practice the right answer is often a combination, and sometimes it is not the treatment you had in mind: volume loss is frequently mistaken for wrinkles, and pigmentation for general dullness. This is precisely what the consultation is for.

How much downtime should I expect?+

It varies considerably. Dermaplaning usually has no visible downtime. Most injectable treatments involve mild swelling for 24 to 72 hours. A thread lift needs three to seven days plus two weeks of movement restrictions. Every treatment page states its expected downtime in the At a Glance panel so you can plan around work and events.

Are these treatments safe?+

All treatments carry some risk, and no practitioner can promise a risk-free procedure. What reduces risk is medical assessment, correct patient selection, appropriate product choice and sterile technique. Dr. Bangalee is a registered medical practitioner (HPCSA Reg. MP 0558605) and you will be counselled on the specific risks of your treatment, and asked for informed consent, before anything is performed.

Is there a minimum age for treatment?+

You must be 18 or older for cosmetic injectable treatments in South Africa. Patients under 18 are not treated for cosmetic indications. Valid identification is requested from all first-time patients.

Can I have more than one treatment in the same visit?+

Often, yes — anti-wrinkle treatment and filler are commonly planned together, for example. Other combinations are deliberately spaced so the skin is not asked to recover from two things at once, and so each result can be assessed on its own. Dr. Bangalee will sequence your plan appropriately.

Can I have treatments while pregnant or breastfeeding?+

Injectable treatments, including anti-wrinkle treatment and fillers, are contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as are chemical peels and most active ingredients. Dermaplaning is one of the few clinic treatments that remains available. Tell Dr. Bangalee if you are pregnant, breastfeeding or trying to conceive.
